Kabung began envisioning grand ambitions from a small village in Manipur, practicing techniques on a textbook long before he owned a guitar, drawing early inspiration from Steve Vai's playing and melodies.
Growing up in a conservative community, the dream of becoming a guitarist was often dismissed as unrealistic. Financial stability was another obstacle - he remembers standing outside music store windows, watching guitars he couldn't afford. Everything changed in 2019 when he joined a band and began taking lessons from a well-known guitarist in Nagaland.
His first guitar, a humble Weston acoustic worth Rs. 4000, remains priceless to him - the moment a dream took physical form. Today, he approaches music with total seriousness: a disciplined daily practice routine, and a belief that mastery has no final destination.
