Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 October 2026
The Indian Guitar Archives ("TIGA", "we", "us") documents Indian guitarists, luthiers, gear and music culture through our magazine and archive at theindianguitararchives.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the website, why, and the choices you have. We aim to follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
What we collect
- Contact form: your name, email address and the message you write.
- Newsletter sign-up: your email address.
- Usage data: we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. It records things like the pages you view, how you arrived, your approximate location (city or region), and your device and browser type. It does not tell us your name or email address.
- Technical data: like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically log your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and reliability.
We do not ask for payment details, government IDs or any sensitive personal information. We do not use your information for advertising and we do not run advertising trackers on the site.
How we use it
- To reply to your messages and enquiries.
- To send you the TIGA newsletter and magazine updates, only if you subscribed. Every email will include a way to unsubscribe.
- To understand which content is read most, and to improve the website.
- To keep the website secure and working properly.
- To meet legal obligations.
We use your information only for these purposes. We do not sell it or rent it to anyone.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers who help us run the site and email (for example our web hosting, analytics, and form or email delivery providers), and only as needed for them to do that. Google Analytics is provided by Google, which may process usage data on servers outside India. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Third-party content on our pages
Some pages load content from other services: Google Analytics (visitor statistics), Google Fonts (typography), YouTube (embedded videos), Google Drive (magazine PDFs), and links to Instagram, Facebook and Spotify. When your browser loads these, the provider may receive your IP address and may set its own cookies. Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies. See our Cookie Policy for details.
How long we keep it
We keep contact messages for as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period afterwards. We keep newsletter addresses until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
Your rights
You can opt out of Google Analytics at any time using the browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout or by blocking cookies in your browser. You can also ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can withdraw your consent to the newsletter at any time. Email us at tigalounge@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied, you may also approach the Data Protection Board of India once it is operational.
Children
The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no website or email system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed.
