In the heart of Manipur's rock and metal scene, GODNDOG stands out not just for their blistering sound but for the brotherhood that binds them. Haobam Uttam Kumar leads on guitar, main vocals, and songwriting, alongside Laishram Sunil on bass and vocals, and Okram Nongshaba on drums. Uttam and Sunil have been jamming together since 1994.
Their name, GODNDOG, is a perfect palindrome - for them, it reflects the idea that every struggle exists for a reason, much like how a dog is colour blind, a reminder that challenges shape the music they create.
Not every highlight has been a celebration - amid political unrest in Manipur, GODNDOG was banned from performing for a full year, a harsh blow but also a testament to the challenges artists face when their music meets broader societal struggles.
